Join Martz for a day at the Museums...The Corning Glass Museum w/ Lunch and The Rockwell Museum


10:00 am - 12:00 pm  Enjoy a guided tour of the Corning Glass Museum.  Founded in 1951 by Corning Glass Works, the Corning Museum is "A Gift to the Nation".   You will see more than 3,500 years of history displayed in glass, including the glass portrait of an ancient Egyptian Pharoah and contemporary sculptures in glass.  You will also be able to be demonstrations of the art of glass blowing by the glassmiths at Corning.  


NOTE: Upon arrival, we will be split into groups of 10 to 12 with a tour guide assigned to each group.


12:00 pm - 1:45 pm  You will be treated to the Hot Glass Gather Luncheon in the museum's cafe.  The meal will include tossed salad, pan-seared bonless chicken breast with lemon butter sauce, jasmine rice and steamed vegetables, freshly baked garlic bread sticks, dessert du jour, coffee/tea/iced tea/soda


2:00 pm - 3:30 pm We will be taken on a guided tour of the Rockwell Museum of Western Art.  This museum is located in downtown Corning and is described as one of the best designed small museums in the Northeast.  The museum was established in 1976, named after it's donors Bob and Hertha Rockwell and is located in the historic Old City Hall Building.


3:30 pm - 6:00 pm  You will have free time to browse and grab dinner in downtown Corning along the historic Gaffer District.  You will find numerous galleries, shops, cafes and restaurants.  There is a Corning Revere facorty Store in the middle of the Gaffer District at 114 Pine Street near the intersection with Main Street for those shoopers interested in looking for bargains.


6:00 pm   Depart for home
